FANFICTION WEEK – REVIEW: “Curve Fitting” by kianspo

ABOUT:

The weird thing is, Charles always introduces Raven as his sister, but he never calls Erik his brother. Erik would be bothered, except he prefers not to think of Charles as his brother, either. He can’t figure it out for four years, and then suddenly he can.

Or. A non-powered AU in which Sharon Xavier never remarries, and Charles ‘adopts’ not only Raven, but Erik too.

REVIEW:

I have only found myself with few fanfictions from this fandom — but I did enjoy what I read. This one was written by one of fanfic authors whose work I known first from Merlin (TV) fandom. I loved those and decided to give this one a try.

This story was taken solely from Erik’s perspective — and it was a story where the boys were being stupid with each other. Meaning, well, lots of pining, keeping feelings bottled up inside, and so many delicious USTs (unresolved tension). It was also a story about family-of-choice, since Charles basically ‘adopted’ Erik and Raven into his family.

In other words, a great romance read for Ami *wheeeee*. Yes, yes, I know that it would be so much better if Erik could tell Charles how he felt or vice versa, but at the same time, that was what USTs in stories were all about, right? Because we got Erik being jealous and murderous over Charles when he was with other people, and I got to roll my eyes alongside Raven, because these stupid boys seemed to be unable to tell each other their feelings. AH, GOOD TIMES.

Of course when they did get it on, it was awesome. SQUEEE, hearts and kisses all around! So if you like your USTs and want to try a Charles/Erik fanfiction, you might give this one a try.

RATING: 4 STARS

About Ami

My name is Ami and I'm an Indonesian girl in my mid 30's, living in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. I used to do a lot of journal writing in a different website but over the years, I started to lose interest. I am, instead, pretty active in reading and writing opinion in Goodreads. Then I start thinking that maybe I can have a blog in which I write mostly about books or joy of reading or anything related to reading activity, really. So this is what this blog is for ... although, I may be inspired to write off-books topic as well :)
