"Boys in Our Books"…

REVIEW: “Dark Soul Vol. 2” by Aleksandr Voinov

The second volume in the Dark Soul series features the stories “Dark Whisper” and “Dark Night.”

In “Dark Whisper,” Gianbattista may have broken Silvio’s heart and sent him off to the States, but he’s still just a phone call away. When Silvio returns from a sex shop with a bag full of goodies, Gianbattista can’t resist topping his boy one more time, even if they are 4,000 miles apart.

In “Dark Night,” the Russian problem comes back to haunt Stefano, and when a dark encounter leaves him bloody and broken, Silvio knows just the right way to ease his pain.

Talk about being hooked and slightly strung out. That is how you can describe me with this series. It’s something I want and don’t want to want because I get lost too easy in… Silvio. Silvio *swoon* I am not going to beat around any bush, tree or sex toy when it comes to that boy. He is hot. I want to crawl inside the pages of this series as well as Voinov’s mind to see what he sees when he writes him because the boy is nothing short of unf! *fans self*

So, after being turned a bit upside down with the end of Vol. 1 – Vol. 2 begins with “Dark Whisper” in Silvio’s POV, as he has moved stateside to work for Stefano. The first scene we get is a phone call from Gianbattista, which was so hot. This was more intimate on the phone than some scenes in other books I have read with the boys in bed.

He remembered the crow’s feet, the silvery hair at the temple he had often brushed aside with his nose or lips when he’d been too lazy to touch Gianbattista with his hands. Remembered being held close against Gianbattista’s shoulder, feeling safe and at home, and willing to pay whatever price it took.

Ugh. Just clean me up when this whole thing is over, would ya? I mean, that right there is reason enough to fall for Silvio. But, the power, the vulnerability and the play between these two men is so strong even with half a world between them and then when it ends? I honestly have trouble thinking when I go over this. It gives me chills in a very good way.

Stefano and Silvio; what is going on there and what will happen? I mean, these two are on the slow burn track to killing me and I love it. The flirting, the touches, the kisses and the promise of what they can have if they want it? Yeah, I kinda like this deal between them.

In “Dark Night” we are back with Stefano as he has a night out with the wife and the Russians come into play. There was a time when I gasped so loud at what happening, I could do nothing but read on and hold my breath. This volume was shorter than the first but that doesn’t mean it didn’t pack a big punch. It did and when Stefano is broken it killed me to see him that way and who he calls for help? I died all over again.

Silvio moved closer, set his helmet down and knelt beside the bed, looking right into Stefano’s face. “I’m here. What do you want?”
“Just be here.”

I want to just sit here and type out all the notes I took but that would give too much of the story away. There is so much to Silvio I want to know and so much of Stefano that needs to be told and so much that I want them to do together. More than they have done already… goodness. This series is going to be the death of me. A very, very good death I predict.
