QUESTION OF THE WEEK: #25 – Oh no you didn’t…

Boys in our Books Friday Question of the Week!

Each week we’ll ask a question about your reading experience. Our review team will give our answers and we encourage you to join in and comment with your answers as well!  Let’s talk about BOOKS! :)

Which book surpasses reason and good manners and “let’s just agree to disagree,” and brings out the protective beast in you?

Bone Rider Not many people have knocked this one, but when/if they do? Oh boy… If only Ami knew how many times I virtually poked her in the eye for dissing that book. Grrr… ;)

The Foxhole Court is the book that some people just don’t *get* (because – steps onto the podium, fist waving) they are too narrow minded to suspend belief or accept that fiction doesn’t have to conform to the rules sometimes! What the hells wrong with them!? Thankfully it’s usually a minority opinion so my BP levels are kept in check and my PC screen remains crack free, for now.

Jenni is currently reading Memorizing You which I just gave 5 stars. In our conversations she has used words like “rolling my eyes” and “not sure if I can keep reading this”. to which I replied “STFU AND READ THE F*CKING BOOK BEFORE I MURDER SOMEONE IN RETALIATION..”. Stay tuned as the saga unfolds…

I’ll also become irrationally emotional whenever negative comments are made about ICoS, Special Forces: Soldiers, and short, fun and sexy stories that are simply made for enjoyment. Like Resistance. I f*cking loved that book – but it’s not gonna change the world – and it wasn’t written with that intent. It’s just fun. Get it? F.U.N.

Hang on, I’m getting irrationally emotional about it… ;)

Easy breezy…

Katinka is ANTI-EVENFALL. And I want to hurt her.

Done and done.

Don’t let me hear you say anything bad about Jake Riordan, though, m’kay? Also, definitely don’t whine about the length of The Place Where They Cried, and never, ever, ever say anything negative about Acclamation in my presence. Like EVER. ‘Cause I will cut a bitch.

I know a book everyone loved and I had to fight my way through… Hot Head. I think I rated it a 2.5?

But for a book I fight for which this blog did not like *stands tall* is Something Like Summer andSomething Like Winter. I will get on my soap box, wearing bright blue running shoes, and defend Ben and Tim to the death with my mighty sword of vengeance or, um… something like that.

I would be extremely displeased with anyone who would dare to dislike Filth. I feel very protective of this book and its characters, so don’t even try to roll your eyes at Toni or -God forbids- Kel, I would scratch them out. I can take that you didn’t like it and stay civil, but be very, very careful with your words. You’re warned.

The Administration is brilliant and Manna Francis is a godess. End of discussion.

Also, I get that the Boyd bashing is unavoidable, but you’d better show restraint with the name calling, ’cause I’ll go all Mama-Bear-in-protective-mode on you.

*sharpens claws*

Now….don’t even think about messing with my Toreth! (Right Xing?!?).  I wouldn’t recommend it…if Warrick doesn’t get to you first, I will find a way to cause you great pain & suffering.  He may be a delusional psycho, but he’s MY delusional psycho.  *rubs blond high & tight lovingly*
Don’t listen to them Tor.

I can listen and rationalize a lot of criticism–not everyone will love some of my fave series (Psycop, Adrien English, Love Lessons, etc).

The times I normally have to walk away from the computer (and ponder ending friendships FOREVER) is when someone lays the smack down on something much loved, like a Tamara Allen historical or a Ginn Hale fantasy. Anyone tearing those to pieces leaves me seeing red. “Why are you kicking this wonderful book? BACK. OFF. NOW.”

My best friend doesn’t really like the PsyCop series because she thinks Jacob pushes Vic around and is too controlling . I LOVE the series and think Jacob is the perfect boyfriend. I have tried to explain the truth to her but she refuses to see it. We are still besties because all of our other favorites match up. I’m not giving up though. I’ll get her to read them all eventually!

    Liked by 1 person

Ditto on Bone Rider. I have a friend who doesn’t like menage stories and no matter how much I am telling her that Bone Rider can’t really be called menage story, she is not budging. So, she bought it and won’t read it since she saw mmm tags in some reviews. :\
Same with Glitterland. So many of my friends couldn’t finish it because they can’t get past the way Darian speaks.
And Special Forces, ICoS and Administration are holy trifecta, so pretty much what everyone else had to said about it… ;)

I’ve been known to defecd Chase, from “Chase in Shadow”, when people get on his case for cheating on his girlfriend. He was really doing the very best he could to survive and not break…

I have a lot on my to list still, but as of right now, It would be Hsin Liu Vega. . . Boyd is fair game though as he sometimes drove me nuts. And also Zero at the Bone, because I loved D.

I can understand if someone doesn’t like all the books that I do and I’m cool with them expressing their opinion but there is a very small list of books that if you don’t like them, we will never have a conversation about them because even though I’m cool with people having their own opinions just like I have mine when it comes to these particular books I just do not want to hear it.

And Call Me In The Morning by Willa Okati (I don’t know why but I hardcore love this book)
Life After Joe by Harper Fox (anything by Harper is amazing in my world but this one is just off the chart)
Fair Game by Josh Lanyon (also Adrien & Jake, Come Unto These Yellow Sands & Lovers & Other Strangers are also tread cautiously topics for me as well)
