ABOUT:

Peckers: Book One

Welcome to the avian shifter world of Undercover Peckers. Where love is instant the moment you find your mate. Where there’s only one true pecker for every man. Where the sex is so hot it will singe your tail feathers. Where bird-watching is both a recreation and a preoccupation—that usually leads to feathers flying.

Simon Spoonwell—intrepid bird store owner and history geek—knows avian shifters exist. With so much myth and lore, there must be a touch of reality. But he doesn’t expect his proof to come in the form of hottie cop and blue jay shifter Jay Azure. It’s an innocuous ticket for jaywalking that brings them together, but an inescapable attraction, a love of awful puns, and a shared need to protect the vulnerable will make them true mates.

REVIEW:

All right, I have been warned by the author (through Hoff’s website) that this series is where love is instant. So I tried to disregard this fact and found other things to focus on. Because OMG, this was definitely insta-love in all its blazing glory!!

The story was cute enough, there were a LOT of bird puns. If you are one for such a thing, you will be in for a treat. I did get my cackling glee a few times. It was fun reading Jay doing the mating dance for Simon (seriously, that scene was a hoot!).

It was also very light in story – the only ‘drama’ that you got was that Simon didn’t immediately trust his mate. He thought Jay was arrogant and rude. So Jay needed to do some wooing, even if he was having to battle a hawk to do it (no, I’m not kidding).

It doesn’t require a lot of thinking – you will probably have some eye-rolling moments and I seriously still have NO IDEA what is the significance of Jay being an undercover cop (maybe in the next book?) and it’s not going to be my best read of the year… However, sometimes you have the mood to read something easy like that, and this can be an option.

About Ami

My name is Ami and I'm an Indonesian girl in my mid 30's, living in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. I used to do a lot of journal writing in a different website but over the years, I started to lose interest. I am, instead, pretty active in reading and writing opinion in Goodreads. Then I start thinking that maybe I can have a blog in which I write mostly about books or joy of reading or anything related to reading activity, really. So this is what this blog is for ... although, I may be inspired to write off-books topic as well :)
