Boys in our Books Friday Question of the Week!
Each week we’ll ask a question about your reading experience. Our review team will give our answers and we encourage you to join in and comment with your answers as well! Let’s talk about BOOKS! :)
My favorite holiday read is Lone Star by Josh Lanyon. It was the first Christmas-themed book I’d ever read AND it was my first Lanyon. It’s perfect: the characters are rich and full of depth, I loved the cop (Texas State Trooper, GASP)/dancer pairing, and it was the ideal length. I can’t wait to read it again this holiday season!
Holiday anthologies from Carina Press are usually awesome. Having said that, I would go with “Icecapade” from Josh Lanyon. It has my favorite trope of one who got away. It was also one of my fee 5* read. Reason? Baby Llama…
My go to holiday read would be Merry Gentlemen.
*sheepish smile* what can I say? I like holiday stories.
I’ve been looking forward to re-reading The Student Prince around Christmas. For me, it just has that merry, happy, Christmas-y feel to it.
I am sap and sucker for Holiday reads!
Lone Star was my first Josh Lanyon ever and I adored it.
There are the ones that leave you breathless and in awe like, Gaudete. If you haven’t read this, read it. That’s all.
There are the ones that are heartbreaking and beautiful like Something to Believe In. Don’t let that cover fool you, this short Christmas story is heartbreaking and so emotional but it embodies what I love about Christmas and the magic the time of year brings.
But, if I had to choose just one (which is obviously a hard thing for me to do) I would pick Where the Lovelight Gleams. It was the perfect Holiday read for me and it will be read each year, that I know for sure. .
I love Josh Lanyon’s Christmas novellas, but my favorite may be –The Dickens With Love. After I read it, I trolled around Seattle to find a bar that could make a stardust martini, a drink the characters very much enjoyed in the story. (I did finally find it–it was delish!)
I only started reading m/m holiday stories last year, if you can believe it! I don’t know why, but I never thought I’d be interested! And then last year, I went CRAZY! My favorites are “Blame it on the Mistletoe” by Eli Easton (‘cuz FIELDING!!!!), “Merry Gentlemen“ by Josephine Myles (my dream is now to visit the Bath Christmas market), a couple lesser-read ones: “In Another Life” by Cardeno C (I loved this story SO MUCH…it’s one of my favorite reads in 2013!) and for a really really charming short story “Snow Globe” by LE Franks.
*pssssst* …can I just say… I CANNOT WAIT for the “Comfort and Joy” anthology coming out December 9th!!!! Josh Lanyon, Harper Fox, Joanna Chambers, and LB Gregg???!!! ARE. YOU. KIDDING. ME????!!!!! #dead.
