“King Perry” by Edmond Manning
The irreplaceable and mind-blowing: King Perry by Edmond Manning. The words, the imagery and characters, the subtle injection of humility in small everyday things, the symbolism, the struggle of forgiveness, the gift of pure love and the perfect, perfect ending. Ugh, it was everything for me. <3

Overhyped book of the year
(What’s all the fuss about?):
This is a really tough question for me because I’ve been increasingly more absent from the online reading communities this year. And with that, I’m not really aware of which books everyone’s been raving about. Like, how can I know what’s overhyped if I don’t know what everyone is talking about? So, I got nudda to complain about. :)
Underhyped book of the year
(Why haven’t more people read this?):
I’d like to re-introduce everyone to a darling little book called “Hunted” by Liz Powell. I NEED EVERYBODY TO READ THIS BOOK RIGHT-THE-F$CK-NOW!!!
Best surprise of the year
(didn’t know what to expect or the story caught you off guard or anything that just…surprised you…):
Well, helloooo again to Hunted by Liz Powell. I had zero expectations for this book and it sat in my inbox for a couple of months before I started it – and then BOOM! So many feelz, so much tension and great character progression, all while boasting a non-linear timeline matched with heart and soul and a huge element of “will he, won’t he do it”… Dun, dun, dunnnnnn! I love, love, loved it.

My reading experience in 2014:
What I’m hoping for/looking forward to in my 2015 reading journey?
Well, I’m hoping that I’ll continue to feel challenged by stories. There were moments in some books that took my breath away and left an imprint on my mind of the exact place I was sitting/laying at during peak moments in a story. For example I can remember exactly where I was when Vin and Perry reached a pivotal point in King Perry, or the time I was pacing around my living room and pulling my hair in turmoil over Hunted, or the time I was sitting on my couch and my blood froze while reading An Immovable Solitude. I want to experience more of those defining moments in books. The snapshots of my reactions to words in books – that’s what I want – the moment where it hits you and you feel like the words were written for only your heart. It’s why we all read, right? To feel connected to a story which is out of our world. To feel moved or challenged. That’s what I’m hoping for… and I hope you all get that, too.
So, *you* got me to read Memorizing You, Stay, Aftermath, and now Hunted. Yes, YOU. Already read Prove It and loved it. Life After Joe was just meh to me, and I haven’t read any of the others.
Have you read Manna Francis? You must. Gahhhh, you MUST.

You have some really interesting books on your list! I hadn’t even heard of some of those. I’m looking forward to adding a few and reading them! (though I’m still not ready for “Memorizing You”, I don’t think…*sobs just thinking of it*)
