Boys in our Books Friday Question of the Week!
Each week we’ll ask a question about your reading experience. Our review team will give our answers and we encourage you to join in and comment with your answers as well! Let’s talk about BOOKS! :)
My favorite category is NA. Mix it with my least favorite category, BDSM.
NA BDSM? No thank you. I’ll pass!
Hmmm, my favorite category is contemporary. My least category is sci-fi. So the result will be contemporary with sci-fi element. I guess the answer to that will be a “maybe”. It depends on my familiarity with the author’s works and/or reviews from other people. EXCEPT if the sci-fi involves aliens. My brain just SHUTS down
Most fave – enemies to lovers
Least fave – GFY
What you get – Special Forces I, and yes I read it and it was awesome, but only because Voinov is brilliant.
Most favourite: Special Agents (hello ICoS, The Administration, Special Forces).
Least favourite: YA or SciFi
Mix that together… and well… you basically have Boyd at the beginning of ICoS and the other guys when they were younger… so yeah, I’d read it. In fact I’d love to read it!
Most favorite: science fiction
Least favorite: YA
Young adult science fiction? I can see myself reading it. As long as it’s not fluff and has a dark/gritty story, I would definitely be intrigued.
Hmmm…Most favorite would be a tie between mystery and Sci-Fi/Fantasy.
Least favorite would be “dark fiction”–the super gritty, it’s pitch black before the bare light of dawn, rapey, tortured suffering hero story.
Would I read a mix of sci-fi & fantasy, mystery, and dark, gritty, torturous non-con angst?
…No, unless it was on the lighter end, like Control.
My favourite is paranormal/fantasy without shifters, and my least favourite is shifters so if I combine them … hang on… what’s half a shifter?

Have you ever tried James Buchanan’s books? He writes some mysteries with BDSM element (he practices in real life, so for me it always feel like an integral part of the plot, rather than gimmick). Could be something good if you ever want to dip your toes on BDSM Mystery.

I know I read Hard Fall many, many years ago. I can’t really remember the story. Was it BDSM?

It has D/s elements, which sometimes involve bondage, between the heroes so I could say yes

I think I’m with Susan, my favourite genre is NA and least favourite BDSM, nope, wouldn’t read the mix…I don’t think…I guess it kinda depends on who wrote it :)

Well, Susan read this, she gave it 3.5* which means it’s not THAT bad *lol* … so if you probably want to give it teeny tiny try, I recommend Lana McGregor’s “His Roommate Pleasure”. It’s two new adult men trying to do BDSM so they are awkward and sweet together.
I prefer to avoid BDSM or D/s tone as well. Mostly because they usually feel gimmicky to me and not comes naturally.

My favourite genre is mystery and my least favourite is NA. The idea of reading a mystery NA makes me cringe. /o\

I guess my fav tends to be sci-fi/fantasy and my least fav historical. Mixing that would sorta come up with steampunk, which I’ve read so guess the answer is yes. I read anything really, it just depends how the author twists it. And there are a few authors I’d try reading just about anything they put out.
