I do this allll the time. Pharrell Williams pops on the radio singing Happy and I instantly think of “Carry the Ocean” by Heidi Cullinan. Whenever I see Arbor Mist in the wine aisle, I think of Marie Sexton’s Cole from “Coda” boys. A compass charm? “Cut & Run” by Abigail Roux. I see my book world every day.

I do this! Right now, the one that sticks in my mind is Phil Collins. Every time I hear Take Me Home, I think of Walter and Kelly’s wedding at the end of Heidi Cullinan’s Fever Pitch. Even thinking about it right now gives me a tear filled smile. I love that book so much and that final chapter was everything. I can see the whole thing in my mind, all their friends making it the best day ever. It’s something I’ll never forget and now every time I hear the song, it makes me happy

I don’t do this, not really. But it happens that I relate to something in a story or it opens a new way of seeing things and/or think about them. I can mull over it quite obsessively, then. Does that count?

It happens to me, not all the time, but it does. Like Sheri, everytime I see a Compass or Anchor charm I think of Cut & Run.
Another one is when I visit Monterrey and go to the Mercado de la Florida, which is like a not so small street market that is set on Wednesdays and Saturdays, I always think of ICoS, and Boyd picking up his plates and cups there. Also, the Medalla de San Benito has a whole different meaning after Evenfall DC2. If a friend screams LO MÁS CHINGÓN Emilio Fucking Vega comes to mind.
My goddaughter asking for La Bendición makes me think of Sutphin Boulevard, and my mom’s lemon meringue pie has never been the same after For Real.
My husband is very fond of playing Flamenco, and now every time he does Nothing Like Paris invades my head.
Whenever I hear the Beatles’ All You Need Is Love, I think of Memorizing you by Dan Skinner.
Also, there’s a small Mennonite farm like 30 minutes away from my hometown, they make this awesome cheese. My grandpa used to take us there to buy from them, occasionally we do, too… A Forbidden Rumspringa is what pops up then.

This may not be the same thing, but I’ve been inspired by certain books to try something and then I always relate that experience back to the book. My prime example is the Dickens with Love by Josh Lanyon, which features somewhat prominently a Stardust Martini. I tried multiple bars in Seattle to try to find it and finally had it at a martini bar. It was delish!
Sometimes I do. Especially with music.
