REVIEW:

YES! I love when Kristen Ashley writes…Kristen Ashley books!

For those of you who read her books on the regular, you’ll most certainly have a favorite series, most definitely have your list of favorite KA heroes, and quite possibly have wondered what you’ll get with her newer releases. The “new” ones have been hit or miss for me, and I think I’m not alone. I’m happy to say that “Hold On” is classic KA…and I loved it.

I have always loved Cher throughout the Burg series (which, by the way, is Top 3 KA series for me). She is the tough, wild girl who isn’t afraid to let her opinion be known. She flirts with the boys and is fiercely loyal to the girls. And I was hoping she’d finally get her book and her HEA. And this was it.

Cher and Merry (Garrett Merrick, the last available bachelor in the Burg, hot cop and partner to the even hotter Mike Haines (my favorite!), and growly alpha male to the nth degree (KA at her best)) are an unlikely couple. But when Cher allows herself to hope that a man like Merry could love her, the LOVE HITS THE ROOF! It’s scorching, it’s sweet, it’s intense, it’s fast and lasting. The banter between the two of them is hilarious and I love how the couple is about LAUGHING with one another, LEARNING from past mistakes, FIGHTING for their happy ending.

As expected in KA books, the heroine finds herself in some danger. BUT, not quite to what I’d come to expect from The Burg series, Cher’s was fairly tame. The danger-element felt a bit rushed, way too short, too quickly played out, and I was slightly disappointed. I needed more of Merry freaking out in worry and then coming in guns blazing to the rescue!!!!!

The best and worst part of this book is the epilogue. It’s a full round up of our favorite Burg couples and seeing them and their children growing up and settling…well, it was a sob-fest for me. I loved it. But then realizing it’s the LAST I’ll have of these characters, some of my FAVORITES…well, it was a sob-fest for me. I hated it.

So…there we have it. If you’re a KA fan, I do think you’ll love Hold On. It’s not a great book to START reading KA and may but mostly may not work as a standalone.

For me, it was a treat.
